May 14, 2018

Michael S. Prior, J.D. is awarded Doctor of Business, honoris causa from Mid-Atlantic Christian University, Elizabeth City, NC for his leadership in philanthropy.

Irvine, CA - May 14, 2018 Financial Planning Ministry (FPM), a national leader in nonprofit planned giving, is pleased to announce that Michael S. Prior, J.D. has been awarded Doctor of Business, honoris causa by Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU), Elizabeth City, NC. He has been President of FPM since 1994.

Michael Prior is the type of person the University chooses to recognize as a role model because of their dedication to exemplary Christian leadership. Prior was honored because of his leadership in planned giving. Because of his vision, the resulting ripple effect in the Kingdom of God and the Christian Church is immeasurable. His extraordinary work in philanthropy is unmatched. Under Prior’s leadership, FPM has served over 25,000 families and over 90 Partner ministries nationwide. Families are assisted by scrivener services in planning vital legal documents such as wills and trusts, advanced health care directives, guardianship instructions for children and more. FPM also provides special needs trusts, serving families with children or adults facing permanent disabilities. Through planned giving, they have developed over 1.1 billion dollars in future gifts to over 4,000 charities. It is truly impossible to imagine all the efforts that will be funded due to FPM’s ministry under Michael’s direction. With his qualifications he could have chosen a profession more apt to line his own pockets, but instead he has chosen to line the pockets of Christian ministries.

In 2004, Mid-Atlantic Christian University began using the services of FPM. MACU now expects over 8 million dollars in future gifts from planned giving. Prior has served as a Trustee at MACU since 2015.

FPM is thrilled that their long-term serving President was honored by MACU in this way.

FPM exists to fund ministry by educating families and facilitating generosity through planned giving.
